WILDLIFE CORRIDORS X - Important wildlife corridors are being compromised here in the Santa Clara Valley - The Peterson Middle School field (SECTION A) [see photo below] is the last and largest piece of biologically-diverse open space left, but the SCUSD [and/or the republican-free zone of the Sunnyvale City Council] is now allowing that wildlife to be treated in an irresponsible fashion by the Full Circle Farm, and this is adversely affecting the local ecosystem > like the RED TAILED HAWKS who frequent the Peterson field for food > click here + RELATED LINK > SINCE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMNT IS RELATIVELY UNRESPONSIVE; PLEASE REPORT ANIMAL ABUSE ALLOWED BY THE SCUSD AND/OR EX-FULL CIRCLE FARM MANAGER JOSH ~ CONTACT PETA @ http://www.peta.org/about/c-contact.asp -- THEN ASK THE DOJ AND/OR DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE @ AskDOJ@usdoj.gov > QUESTION: with roughly 5000 wildlife species going extinct each year; why does the US government more often than not vigorously protect those who torture animals; while torturing those who protect animals? -- i thought the obama administration opposes torture...

READ THE LINK OF VIOLENCE @ http://www.americanhumane.org/human-animal-bond/programs/the-link-of-violence/ > click here & here

> One of the largest Superfund cleanup sites in the state is located at Tantau Avenue and Homestead Road (SECTION XX + CLICK HERE) and the Raynor Park water well (SECTION C) is now the water source for Full Circle Farm during part of the year - QUESTIONS: how can a farm be truly organic if it is using water which originates from a from a superfund cleanup site; why was a new kaiser hospital built on top of it; and is it really ok for residents to drink local ground water?

Sunken Gardens golf course (SECTION B) [see photo above] is the only other substantial piece of wildlife-inhabited open land in the near vicinity - Endangered Burrowing Owls have been recently found in the Raynor Park area (SECTION C) and unless evidence of this has been destroyed; this should be on public record at the City of Sunnyvale [NOTE: Burrowing Owls etc use abandoned Ground Squirrel burrows as shelter] - Also; Lake Terrace Apartments (SECTION D) Marina Playa apartments (SECTION E) and another apartment complex (SECTION F) are part of an old flyway to the SF bay, as the old Calabazas Creek route once followed Lawrence Expressway (SECTION X) out to the bay lands; and The Corn Palace (SECTION G) is one of the last and largest pieces of working agricultural land left in the Santa Clara Valley -- see photo below & click here (note: a small population of Ground Squirrels inhabits the open space across from Arco gas at Benton Street and Lawrence Expressway)...

still in denial about global warming? ~ this is the simple equation of combination human/wildlife habitat;
preserving agricultural land (human habitat) = preserving wildlife habitat

>>> IF THEY HAD BRAINS, full circle farm would not have installed these scarecrows, as they tend to work much like indiscriminate pesticides which eliminate good insects along with the bad; they have apparently scared off the red tailed hawks! - and since the farm is organic; it is clearly not in their benefit to eliminate the natural services provided by these beneficial predators...

> and not only did the City of Santa Clara recently and wrongfully allow the pond at Lake Terrace to be paved (SECTION D); but a few years back, the City of Santa Clara illegally paved the biologically diverse pond at 1331-1333 Lawrence Expressway (see: SECTION E & click here), which has caused much emotional distress for many humans (and wildlife) who will likely be taking this important civil/human/animal rights case to court at a later date - you see; the illegally paved 1331-1333 pond was not only; 1) an important emergency water retention pond for an earthquake which could compromise water pressure (QUESTION: why did the SC Fire Department recomend the removal trees just behind the DMV many years back, using the excuse of needing 'emergency fire access' to 1331-1333 Lawrence Expressway, when that same access point has long ago since been closed-off? see: arbitrary); but it was also; 2) an important last wildlife refuge in the Santa Clara Valley, WHICH NEEDS RESTORING; and 3) an important link to the rapidly disappearing natural environment, which is now under attack from rampant irresponsible human development (see photos below)...

> RAINFOREST DESTRUCTION IN SOUTH AMERICA? NO! IT'S 1331-1333 LAWRENCE EXPRESSWAY IN SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA!

> see those new condos in the background of the photo above? don't you think the people living there would like a nice new pond outside their windows? -- and not only for emergency fire fighting purposes [in the case of a catastophic earthquake when water pressure is compromised] but also for the calming effects of negative ions created by pond fountains [which help offset the positive ion count generated by vehicle exhaust] -- and not to mention the aesthetic value of a beautiful pond [i go to santa cruz to be around nature's beauty, as do many others who are drawn there, but unfortunately santa clara has paved over all of its' natural beauty, making it a near environmental dead-zone generally unworthy of visiting -- the fact is; excess and/or irresponsible environmental destruction and/or development is among many other things, quite simply; BAD FOR BUSINESS] > and! since we do not live in the politically oppressive regime of los angeles [where republicrats rule and media-inspired riots outnumber peaceful protests] our voices actually half way sort of matter up here in northern california; so please email the SANTA CLARA CITY COUNCIL @ MayorandCouncil@ci.santa-clara.ca.us and tell them to RESTORE THE POND @ 1331-1333 LAWRENCE EXPRESSWAY!); then email your SANTA CLARA COUNTY SUPERVISORS and do the same! > TAKE ACTION!

PUBLIC PROPERTY? - The photo seen above is a birds' eye view of the Raynor Park, Peterson Middle School & Patrick Henry properties - (SECTION X) is the nature area at Peterson Middle School, which is often frequented by and/or home to several species of wildlife including Mallard ducks, Kildares, Western Bluebirds, Western Ground Squirrels, and Voles etc [In fact; Golden Eagles, Ravens and Seagulls feed at the Peterson field as well] making this an important biological 'hot-spot'] -- The new Full Circle Farm covers roughly half the Peterson field (SECTIONS F G B & C) -- But! an all-important greenbelt wildlife corridor (SECTION A > click here) connecting the nature area to the farm zone (which has a pre-existing ground squirrel and vole population) has been for some reason left out - (SECTION H) is Raynor Park, and since; 1) Burrowing Owls have been found there; and 2) Burrowing Owls often use abandoned Ground Squirrel Burrows as shelter; it seems logical to shore up ground squirrel habitat at the Peterson field, not only to create much-needed territory for them, but to also increase overall biological diversity at the Peterson field; one of the last and largest pieces of wildlife territory left on the floor of the Santa Clara Valley...

(SECTION C) is a small piece of land which lies between the Peterson football field and the adjacent street - This piece of land has no wildlife living on it, but for some reason it was not chosen to be used for agricultural uses (Full Circle Farm representatives have said that it would take $50,000 dollars worth of topsoil to make that land usable for farming, but I seriously doubt dirt in SECTION C is any different than in SECTION B & G -- either way; I called several U.S. Senators asking for them to make some room for organic farmers in the latest farm bill) - The Patrick Henry property (which is owned by the SCUSD along with the Peterson property) has a field (SECTION D & E) which has absolutely no wildlife living on it, yet the SCUSD (and the supposed republican-free zone of the Sunnyvale City Council) did not take this field parcel into consideration for farm usage -- Instead; this PUBLIC-OWNED PROPERTY has been fenced-off as well much like the Full Circle Farm, and leased out to a soccer league with no approval from adjacent neighbors > RELATED LINK

CONNECTED STREETS SAVE LIVES -- A couple of months ago, Rachel Sohmer authored a very good blog post that illustrated the practical convenience that comes with well-connected neighborhood streets.  Researchers have found that neighborhoods with more connections (and thus smaller blocks) reduce automobile use, too, by making walking easier and shortening driving distances - Now there's even more good news:  older neighborhoods with well-connected, grid-like street patterns are safer, too.  This contradicts a widely held belief that cul-de-sac patterns are safer because they reduce traffic - To visualize the difference, compare the two different patterns below.  The older community of Ocean Park, California, is shown first, on top, and a newer subdivision in Irvine, California, is shown below it.  Ocean Park has a traditional, highly connected street grid.  The subdivision in Irvine is based on cul-de-sacs that connect to collector streets but not to each other -- go to: http://switchboard.nrdc.org/blogs/kbenfield/connected_streets_save_lives_s.html

SANTA CLARA GENERAL PLAN - Information about the City of Santa Clara’s General Plan Update providing up-to-date information, including project description, Planning Area, schedule, drawings and studies completed so far, ways to participate, and contact information. We invite you to take a look around the site and share your vision for the future of the City. Please check back often for updates on the planning process and to review draft documents -- SANTA CLARA GENERAL PLAN @ http://www.santaclaragp.com/ - doug handerson @ the SC planning division - dhanderson@santaclaraca.gov - 408-615-2450 -- QUESTIONS: 1) why is the city of santa clara asking for input to their general plan now, when suggestions for 1333 lawrence have been totally ignored for 8 years now?; and 2) if those in government feel they are exempt from laws, why should anyone follow them?

OTHER QUESTIONS: 1) why do animal cruelty laws generally only apply to domestic animals instead of wildlife? (ANSWER: because while the 1990s brought increased federal wildlife protections ~ the 2000s brought weakened federal wildlife protection while bolstering the protection of domestic animals); 2) why is the destruction and/or disruption of wildlife habitat not considered to be a serious act of animal cruelty?; 3) could it be the santa clara county district attorney is nothing more than a relatively inept family court judge who is unqualified to make sensitive environmental decisions? [would you put judge judy in charge of the EPA? no!]; 4) why was the mighty animal rights activist LIK ROPER nearly run over in the street; repeatedly trespassed against; then stalked, menaced and harassed in various acts of domestic terrorism [partially and/or allegedly sponsored by a santa clara cops' son] for over a year with little or no police action taken?; 5) but while recently cleaning up litter down at full circle farm; the SVPD promptly showed up to tell mister roper he trespassed on PUBLIC PROPERTY which everybody owns?; 6) didn't full circle farm come into this neighborhood under the condition and/or agreement that it would be a community effort where volunteerism was encouraged?; 7) why are those sanctioned to torture animals being protected while those who protect animals are allowed to be tortured?; 8) gee, can anyone say VAST RIGHT WING CONSPIRACY?; 9) i didn't think so...

TERRORIZING ECOSYSTEMS = ECOTERRORISM + COINTELPRO = USA PATRIOT ACT -- the earth is experiencing the largest species extinction since the fall of the dinosaurs -> read how both the city of Sunnyvale and Santa Clara ignored exculpatory evidence, used falsified police reports, coersion and/or intimidation, gang stalking, violence, and even long-ago outlawed COINTELPRO methods to forcefully shove their speciesist, anti-environmental agenda down our collective throats @ NEIGHBORHOOD COPWATCH > NOTE: shortly after 911; the FBI admitted a dirty little secret; for roughly 25 years they actively destabilized activists, and especially black activists -- they then made their dirty little secret into law with the USA PATRIOT ACT! - click here

THE SCUSD: INTELLIGENCE vs EDUCATION - college education and/or education in general is obviously a good thing, but it also can have its' downsides - for instance; what is seen by some as the 'white superiority complex' is often nothing more a product of overeducation and the ensuing condescension it can bring on -- it seems when you pack a whole bunch of excessive education into someone's head (as opposed to INTELLIGENCE and/or EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE; something i have always naturally possessed) and/or money into someones' wallet; it tends to make them think they are better than those who are less educated ~ and therefore makes them feel they deserve more from government etc as well (watch some of these highly educated people standing in line for water and food after the next big natural disaster; they will be screaming the loudest) > CONCLUSION: though humans often crawl up into their cerebrums; they are still [and/or can be] largely driven by their neo-cortexes...
