> 31 mar 2006 / MALLARD DUCK @ THE PETERSON FIELD - a male mallard duck enjoys the seasonal wetlands @ the peterson field on friday march 31st - his mate is likely sitting on her eggs in the petersons nature area, as ducks return to its' pond every year at around this time to raise their young...mallard ducks are monogamous and mate for life, something humans could learn a whole lot from - read more about mallard ducks @ http://www.nhptv.org/natureworks/mallard.htm...
> 9 jan 2006 - WILDLIFE HABITAT @ MISSION COLLEGE IN SANTA CLARA / mission college in santa clara has a substantial population of ground squirrels, western burrowing owls and jackrabbits (ect) - years back a teacher at this local community college led an effort to permanently protect the habitat surrounding the college - when the college was first built it was the largest structure for miles around it, but now it is surrounded by behemoth semiconductor campus buildings (see last photo below) - fences were constructed and native vegetation was planted to provide sustenance for the animals, and now it is a thriving ecosystem - the same can be done to portions of the peterson field to shore up and protect threatened and/or endangered species habitat there as well, because; 1) western burrowing owls have been seen by local observers living on and around the peterson property within the last two years, and - 2) there is documented evidence of burrowing owls recently inhabitating a kiddie playground at raynor park (reconstruction of the playground was delayed by the precense of burrowing owls) - also, i found nesting material and what appears to be a tiny baby owl feather left behind from two separate abandoned owl nests i stumbled upon after the large industrial football container by the peterson track was moved last year - read more about the wildlife at mission college @ http://missioncollege.org/gen_info/owls.html
about 5 acres of land just behind mission college have been designated as permanent wildlife habitat
the parcel of land seen above was originally supposed to be part of mission college's protected habitat - i used to deliver BAM magazine to mission college and drove by this spot repeatedly - one week it was a thriving spot for various wildlife - the next week it was bull dozed over to make way for a semiconductor campus!?! - i blew my whistle LOUDLY about this at a santa clara city council meeting regarding the 1333 lawrence expressway property a few years back, and i heard it made the local TV news and somebody got fined $$$ for destroying endangered species habitat!?!

DESTRUCTION OF DOCUMENTS OR OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE?
NOTICE AND AGENDA - SUNNYVALE CITY COUNCIL / TUESDAY, MARCH 21, 2006 / COUNCIL CHAMBERS, 456 WEST OLIVE AVENUE SUNNYVALE, CALIFORNIA - Questionable Item: 1. F. RESOLUTION MOTION - RTC 06-077 - Resolution Authorizing Destruction of Certain Documents Pertaining to Citizen Complaints/Inquiries, Internal Investigations, Applicant Backgrounds for Non-Hires, Officer Involved Vehicle Collisions, Canine Unit Training and Deployment Records and Inactive Carry Concealed Weapon (CCW) Permit Documentation Eligible for Destruction / Staff Recommendation: Council approves the resolution allowing for the destruction of specified records from the Department of Public Safety. Staff Contact: Heather Tannehill, (408) 730-7157
(i find the above item to be a bit questionable and worth bringing to your attention...why would sunnyvale public safety want to destroy documents pertaining to citizen complaints and inquiries?...hmmm...you can contact the sunnyvale city council and tell them how you feel about this issue @ council@ci.sunnyvale.ca.gov)
<><><>
> 5 feb 2006 / VERBAL ASSESSMENT - a city council meeting regarding the peterson middle school field was held in the sunnyvale city council chambers on tuesday january 24th 2006...among many verbal interjections, i made a comment around the end of the meeting regarding the british parliamentarty system of governance...the parliamentary system allows for free expression throughout the proceedings, allowing thoughts and ideas that would otherwise be ignored or forgotten to get through and become part of the 'mass consciousness' so to speak, and i believe that this produces a better end result...this system needs to be applied to american politics everywhere from city council meetings to the US congress...
there are no rules when it comes to the political process, as the sky is the limit - so by 'wrongfully' interjecting my ideas during the council meeting in a parliamentary fashion, i made my voice rise up above the relative silence and added a much needed dissenting perspective to the proceedings...i see medea benjamin doing this kind of stuff all the time, and she has definitely influenced me...medea has been thrown out of countless government meetings for mouthing off and muckraking in general; thus i almost got thrown out by otto lee at the end of the meeting...
but you know; if the SCUSD can poison a protected species and suffer no recourse, why should i be worried about exercising my unalienable rights?...not worried about it...let's put it this way; i have many asian friends and i do not mean to be disrespectful but - maybe otto lee should move over china for a year then come back and see if he still wants me to shut up...i think we need to take 'decorum' and forcefully throw it out the window...
(but! i got a good vibe from council members chris moylan, dean chu and melinda hamilton - as they seem to be on our neighborhood's side, so here are their email addresses: CHRIS MOYLAN @ cmoylan@stanford.edu DEAN CHU @ CouncilDeanChu@yahoo.com MELINDA HAMILTON @ mhamilton@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us)
one should not be afraid to express one's outrage, and if i broke any rules, well - i didn't see any rules displayed anywhere, did you?...and besides; some rules are meant to be broken if their implementation breaks other rules which may supersede them (like the first amendment, for instance)...many in government really do not want us to speak completely freely at hearings because it just gets too messy and they can't always get what they want; they cannot fully control us and therefore the political process...maybe they prefer us all to be a bit mentally constipated like them...
unfortunately i see the first amendment as a BIG wide open door allowing all of us to do and say pretty much whatever we damn well please, as this was the original intent of the amendment - but some in government would obviously beg to differ...oh, and by the way; i recently found out that some of my ancestors came over on the mayflower to start this country, so i take this 'first amendment' stuff seriously...
anyway, i see the city council proceedings as being very similar to the highly controlled atmosphere of court rooms, churches and schools - and let's just say while i respect the establishment of organized religion, i am not a big fan of the post-newtonian era of order first imposed upon organized religion - then to the rest of society later on...there is supposed to be a separation between church and state...
just as one man's treasure is another man's trash; evolution to one person can often spell devolution to another; as this 'new' newtonian universe appears to be somewhat limited if you look at it sideways...newton only explained the basic physics of a falling STATIONARY object, not a falling SPINNING object - a falling, spinning object travels and/or falls farther and at a higher rate of speed than the falling stationary object (see: richard c hoagland 'hyperdimensional physics @ http://www.enterprisemission.com/) and if this is arcanely applied to politics, then the order imposed upon society at large by the post-newtonian judeo-christian tradition was in a sense unnecessary restraint, and could in fact be an impediment of sorts; as in a sense stationary suggests stagnation while spinning suggests progression...american democracy has been in a constant state of flux since 1776, and this will not change anytime soon...the only thing that never changes is that things will always be the same...
> also! i heard the sunnyvale city officials talking around the end of the meeting about doing 'outreach'...hmmm...well, haven't we just had almost two years of meetings and/or 'outreach' so far?...the ozaki/roper plaza idea (see below) was well received at one of the 'outreach' meetings a few months back in the peterson cafeteria, but roger barnes of the SCUSD ignored the idea...why?...do they actually want to follow a plan that the neighbors approve of, or is this just all for show?...
mister barnes from the SCUSD was saying something about dogs on the peterson field and kids being in danger (yeh right) etc etc etc - the usual 'what about the children!?!' nonsense...it is one thing to 'protect the children' - and another to use it as an excuse to get what you want, and i think the SCUSD and the government in general is beginning to use the 'what about the children' thing to violate everyone's rights and get whatever the hell they want at every turn...
it used to be that elvis and his shaking hips were a 'threat' to the children, then the beatles and/or john lennon, (etc) now anything and everything any paranoid, neurotic parent wants it to be falls into the same dangerous category as elvis and the beatles; janet jackson's breast; howard stern; twisted sister; etc...so how is all this neurotic overprotection of children through mind control of others and/or censorship really any different than the actions of oppressive north korean leader kim jong-il?...
(both republicans and democrats use the 'what about the children' thing to violate individual 'unalienable' rights; and republicans often use terrorists as an excuse to violate individual rights as well, so that in a sense puts children on the same level as terrorists when it comes to manipulating those around them)...
well, i've got news for you all; i used to play with my friends in the patrick henry/peterson field when i was a kid, and there was a pack of wild dogs who roamed just behind a fence inside an area where old farm equipment was stored (right where the condos adjacent to the peterson tennis courts now are)...we used to taunt them, then run over and jump up on the monkey bars to escape them...they would eventually go away, and none of us ever got bit...so, if i never got officially attacked amidst all that, the kids nowadays have nothing to worry about, trust me; because the dogs that are walked on the peterson field now are all pretty tame...people worry too much nowadays about everything and nothing if you ask me...
back in high school i had a friend name kip bautista who could literally ride a wheelie all the way from home to school without having his front tire touch the ground, so seeing all these kids with bicycle helmets seems a little wimpy to me - sorry about that!...as a kid i wiped out, got thrown from my bike and fell on my head with no helmet a couple times, and i'm just fine...
the most amazing thing about all of this (besides having a zit on my nose the night of the city council meeting and still going on camera anyway - and the fact that i still get zits) is that i actually dropped out of peterson high school way back in 1978 or so...i'de have been happy if they bull dozed the school back then, but i have changed dramatically since and want to save the school as it was then...and let's face it; since lik roper sort of attended peterson high school with the class of 1981, it should be considered a historic site, should it not?...
at meetings' end i still had no idea what the outcome was, because those city people speak in legal double speak on purpose to confuse us all...all i know is this; now that the honorable lik roper has officially entered the picture, sunnyvale politics will never be the same...it looks like the peterson field will be spared for now, but the neighborhood must remain vigilant to ensure its' preservation as open space, so STAY TUNED...
and just remember; the peterson property was once slated to be the future location of the amusement park 'frontier village, but the neighbors successfully fought the plan - and the patrick henry property was once targeted to be a high density housing complex, and the neighbors stopped that as well - SO WE CAN DO THIS PEOPLE - WE CAN STOP THE SCUSD FROM SELLING OFF THE PETERSON FIELD!...
i think we have been focusing on the wrong parcel; if any land is sold to a developer, it should be the acreage which consists of the tennis courts and part of the parking lot that is 85% empty most of the time anyway...middle school students to not drive yet, so the space is not needed...
and i question the $200,000 price tag of land upkeep when it comes to field maintenance...they should open the books, show us the costs behind everything and allow us to create a low cost solution to solve the problem...i have at least five people willing to volunteer for field maintenance, but the SCUSD doesn't want to talk about it...and! if part of the land was dedicated as wildlife habitat, then it would costs little or nothing to maintain, as ecosystems pretty much run on their own once they get up and running...
oh, and i talked to a girl who said that the city of sunnyvale IS NOT the one to call if you need to report animal abuse - she said santa clara county is much better in dealing with this kind of thing, as sunnyvale is reknowned for being half-assed when it comes to animal protection...apparently the county is helping to protect wild animals by ignoring most complaints coming from residential areas...people often want to build on or move into areas that are smack dab in the middle of a complicated ecosystem, and animals within those ecosystems must be protected to ensure their survival and future population recovery...

> 25 jan 2005 / A SUNNYVALE CITY COUNCIL MEETING REGARDING THE PETERSON FIELD ON TUESDAY JANUARY 24TH 2006 @ 7PM WAS HELD IN THE COUNCIL TORTURE CHAMBERS!?!
I had a laundry list of questionable items to spew out (on camera) in rapid fire succession at the city council meeting, but i only got to a few; here are some of the issues i discussed and some i did not: - 1) WHY DID SUNNYVALE ANIMAL CONTROL RESCUE AND RETURN AN IMPERILED CAT FROM OUR NEIGHBORHOOD ONE WEEK, BUT REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE SCUSD POISONING OF THE FEDERALLY PROTECTED GROUND SQUIRRELS IN THE PETERSON FIELD? - 2) HOW COULD I HAVE SENT A COMPLAINT BY EMAIL ABOUT ABUSE OF THE PETERSON FIELD ONE WEEK - AND THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW DEVELOPMENT PLANS WERE DRAWN UP IN SECRET AS IF IT WAS A DONE DEAL WITH NO NEIGHBORHOOD INPUT? SINCE I STARTED THIS WHOLE PROCESS, I CAN STOP IT AS WELL WITH FIRM RESOLVE...I WILL NOT BUDGE ON THIS ONE - 3) WHO BRIBED WHO TO RAM THIS DEAL THROUGH WITHOUT NEIGHBORHOOD APPROVAL? - 4) WHY HAVE I BEEN REPEATEDLY HASSLED BY THE SUNNYVALE POLICE ABOUT EVERYTHING FROM PICKING UP LITTER TO PUTTING A SAFETY CONE OUT IN THE STREET SINCE STARTING MY OPPOSITION TO THE FIELD PLAN? - AND! WHO IS GOING TO JAIL FOR POISONING THOSE GROUND SQUIRRELS? - 5) HOW CAN YOU ALL CONSIDER YOURSELF GOOD DEMOCRATS IF YOU ARE EVEN FOR A SECOND CONSIDERING THE DESTRUCTION OF PROTECTED SPECIES HABITAT AND/OR ECO-TERRORISM AND/OR TERRORISM AGAINST AN ECOSYSTEM IN THE PETERSON FIELD? - 6) DID YOU KNOW THAT ENDANGERED BURROWING OWLS HAVE BEEN SEEN ON THE PETERSON PROPERTY AS RECENTLY AS A YEAR AGO, AND I POSSESS EVIDENCE OF THEIR INADVERTENT HABITAT DESTRUCTION? - 7) DID YOU KNOW THAT THE LAST THING I SPOKE TO ROGER BARNES ABOUT AT ONE OF THE LAST SCUSD MEETINGS WAS THE WILDLIFE LIVING IN THE PETERSON FIELD THAT MAY HALT DEVELOPMENT, AND SHORTLY AFTER THIS MEETING THE WILDLIFE WAS THEN POISONED TO IN A SENSE DESTROY EVIDENCE OF A PROTECTED SPECIES AND THEREFORE MAKE WAY FOR DEVELOPMENT? - 8) IS THAT YOUR IDEA OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW? - 9) WE HAVE HAD ABOUT 5 MEETINGS REGARDING THE PETERSON FIELD NOW, SO HOW MANY PUBLIC HEARINGS DO WE NEED BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY HEAR WHAT WE HAVE TO SAY? - 10) ARE YOU ALL DEAF, OR WHAT? - 11) WHY IS IT WHEN DUCKS GOT RUN OVER IN CAMPBELL, THE POLICE PURSUED THE PERPETRATOR AND THE STORY BECAME A NATIONAL OUTRAGE, BUT WHEN FEDERALLY PROTECTED DUCKS GOT REPEATEDLY RUN OVER IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE LAST SPRING, THE SUNNYVALE POLICE DID NOTHING ABOUT IT? - 12) WHY WOULD THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE HAVE RECENTLY AGREED TO TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF MAINTAINING THE PATRICK HENRY FIELD - WHILE DECLINING TO TAKE CARE OF THE PETERSON FIELD, UNLESS THEY HAVE ALREADY MADE UP THEIR MINDS ABOUT THE PETERSON FIELD? - 13) WHAT IS THE TOTAL CO$T OF MAINTAINING THE PETERSON FIELD? - 14) THE COST OF MAINTAINING THE PETERSON FIELD HAS BEEN ESTIMATED AT AROUND $250,000 PER YEAR, BUT DON'T YOU THINK THE FIELD CAN BE MAINTAINED FOR WAY LESS MONEY USING NEIGHBORHOOD VOLUNTEERS? - 15) WHY DID THE OLD PETERSON FIELD MAINTENANCE GUY (CRAIG) REGULARLY CLEAN UP LITTER IN THE FIELD, BUT THE NEW GUY REFUSES TO DO SO? - 16) WHY WON'T THE SUNNYVALE POLICE PATROL MY STREET FOR SPEEDERS SINCE THEY HAVE RECENTLY AND OPPORTUNISTICALLY DECIDED THAT THIS END OF THE STREET IS WITHIN THEIR JURISDICTION? - 17) WHY DID I RECEIVE A BOGUS RESTRAINING ORDER AFTER BEING ATTACKED BY A NEIGHBOR IN THE STREET A FEW YEARS BACK? - 18) AND WHY DIDN'T THE SUNNYVALE POLICE ARREST THE VIOLENT HATE-CRIMER WHO CAME TO MY DOOR AT 2 AM MAKING THREATS A FEW MONTHS AGO? - 19) WHY DID IT TAKE 13 YEARS TO GET A NEW TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICE INSTALLED IN THE RAYNOR PARK AREA? (SEE: 'CHECK OUT THIS TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICE' STORY BELOW) - 20) WHAT ARE THE TRAFFIC TOLERANCE LEVELS OF OUR NEIGHBORHOOD? - 21) WHO ARE THE IDIOTS IN CONTROL OF ALL THIS CRAP?...etcetcetc...
i did this same kind of thing at a santa clara city council meeting a few years back, and they bumped our next neighborhood meeting over to a tiny isolated room so i would not be on camera at the next meeting; a form of damage control...that mean-spirited city council member bitch patricia mahan gave me the most EVIL look i have EVER gotten from ANYONE while i was speaking, and in a HUGE violation of my unalienable civil rights; i was WRONGFULLY threatened with arrest the very next day!...ms. mahan was focusing her dark energies on me with a vengence, but i cut through the mustard and got my message through anyway, obviously much to her chagrine....they're all just lucky i didn't sue their pants off!...
i strongly suspect that the city of santa clara refuses to patrol our street for speeders (our end of the street is santa clara jurisdiction, not sunnyvale, you jokers down at the sunnyvale police department!...get your shit together!) and/or place any permanent traffic calming measures because of this; MY DISSENT (patricia mahan is now mayor)...why would that anonymous santa clara traffic engineer have told me the holdup on the traffic calming on our street was 'a political one'? (see: apolitical holdup' story below)...
the bottom line is this: the government often makes people pay for speaking out by DOING NOTHING when they need help, while corporations pay for their influence through campaign contributions etc...some pay for what they say; others pay to play...anyway...
furthermore; let's look at the facts, people - we all know that everything from: 1) the reduction of global warming gases through stepped-up industrial constraints and/or increased enforcement of current environmental regulations; 2) to the protection of carbon sinks and/or forest canopies through increased forest protections; 3) to the protection of wildlife habitat and/or biological diversity - is essential to the protection of our planetary homeostasis and/or the future of the human race - so let us not take this 'environmental protection' stuff lightly...
the county of santa clara has recently embarked on a large scale wildlife and open space conservation effort, and the peterson field is a good place for the county to start their valiant efforts - please email your SANTA CLARA COUNTY SUPERVISORS - DONALD F. Subject: JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER! - IF THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE AND/OR THE SCUSD PLANS ON BUILDING ANY NEW HOUSES IN THE PETERSON FIELD - I WILL GET IN FRONT OF THE BULL DOZERS!" - (tiananmen square note: what is the difference between a tank and a bull dozer?)

> 20 jan 2006 - just like i predicted, the justice department released some bogus ELF/ALF (and/or the FBI/CIA) propaganda today just in time for the city council meeting on tuesday!...tell you what; tell dick cheney and his entire crooked crew to take their 'top-down' authority and GO STRAIGHT TO HELL EARLIER THAN THEY ARE EXPECTED! - i will not spend ONE MINUTE in jail nor in court for usage of my UNALIENABLE first amendment rights - I DO NOT NEGOTIATE WITH GOVERNMENT TERRORISTS - TAKE YOUR PATRIOT ACT AND STICK IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE, MISTER BUSH! - you will have to use your terrorist government police thugs to shoot me dead or run me over with a bull dozer if you want houses in the peterson field! - yup; i plan on a LEGAL, NON-VIOLENT PROTEST - i'm serious as a fucking heart attack, bush administration and/or city of sunnyvale; take your bogus ELF-ALF propaganda AND FUCK OFF! - i am willing to die to protect and defend my homeland, i just refuse to join the US military and kill anyone to do it - there is a big difference between being willing to die - and willing to kill - to protect your homeland - i am willing to die as i do not fear death...
~
the bottom line is this: OVER MY DEAD BODY WILL ANY HOUSES GO INTO THE PETERSON FIELD; and! if the government would just as soon have me dead to put a few houses into that field, then I DON'T WANT TO LIVE IN A WORLD THAT PLACES THEIR MONEY BEFORE MY LIFE - YOU GOT IT?...i'm not crazy, in fact i'm the only sane one left!...furthermore;

> 30 dec 2005 / WHAT HAPPENED? - i talked to a neighbor friend today and got the scoop on the december 14th hearing at sunnyvale city hall regarding the peterson middle school field; 1) apparently the SCUSD has offered the 8 acres of land in question at the reduced price of 45% off the original price of roughly 3 million dollars per acre plus the cost of inflation, but - 2) the sunnyvale planning commission has recommended against the sale of the land (partially due to the large amount of neighbors against the plan), and this could stop any development from happening, but - 3) the city council does not necesarily have to follow the recommendation of the planning commission, as it can be ignored if they so desire, and - 4) apparently three members of the city council (and i'm not sure which three) have gone on the record as being pro-development while one is against it, but i'm not sure about the others - 5) an open space organization like the trust for public land (or TPL) @ http://www.tpl.org/ could aquire a portion of the land for open space, and that would in theory make the rest of the land off limits to development / go to: http://www.tpl.org/ext_contact_us.cfm or email TPL @ webmaster@tpl.org and ask them to look at aquiring a portion of the peterson field for open space and/or wildlife habitat - 6) the saber cats football team was originally going to relocate elsewhere, but recent negotiations will keep them at the patrick henry property for the next two years minimum (fry's electronics owns the saber cats) - 7) there is no number seven right now, but if i think of one i will tell you...
> to find out what else happened at the december 14th meeting regarding the peterson middle school field - or for info about futures hearings, call the sunnyvale city manager @ 408-730-7480 - or email: citymgr@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us - City Hall is located @ 456 West Olive Avenue and the mailing address is: P.O. > 3 jan 2005 / CALABAZAS CREEK FLOOD CONTROL - this is the half-full calabazas creek @ around 8 am on jan 2nd, 2006...extensive flood control efforts were done first in 1950s, then in the early 1980s - then again in 1995, and initially the underpass (seen below) had only one water passage going beneath the roadway...this was later upped to two in the 1980s after a flood brought water rushing down neighborhood streets up to 1/4 mile away from the creek when a drain clogged in the laurelwood school field...in 1995, it was increased to four water passages, with improvements made upstream and downstream - (a friend and i once traversed the creek starting from this bridge all the way up to bollinger road...some areas were like quicksand, causing us to fall into the muck up to our chests)...
> a section of calabazas creek was widened in 1995 and made to be more riparian (see below), rather than 'cementarian' as it is further downstream past lawrence expressway...this allows water to trickle downstream and provide habitat for waterfowl etc all year long...the oak tree seen in the very center of the photo (on the mound with rocks for erosion control) is the infamous 'KB spot' - or 'kick-back party spot' - that my friends and i used to regularly visit back in high school...long ago this used to be the site of a cherry orchard...the KB spot oak tree used to have a tree fort built into it, and for all i know probably still has some of the remains of the old fort up in the branches...i would quite often cut through the old orchard and fill my baseball cap with ripe cherries during the springtime on my way home from laurelwood school...that same baseball cap full of ripe cherries now costs about $9.00 per pound!?!...
there also used to be a tree swing that swung directly over the creek up near lawrence expressway, and people would often swing over the raging waters during storms...water used to only pass just to the right of what is now the mound with rocks, but the creekbed was later modified allowing water to rush around both sides...a bridge used to cross this part of the river allowing kids to walk home from school through the orchard to the streets just behind laurelwood school...i have many fond memories of hanging out at the old cherry orchard and i was sad to see it go...
> 29 dec 2005 / SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP? - i heard it through the grapevine that two city of sunnyvale meetings regarding the peterson field were held on december 12th and 14th, and a whole bunch of people showed up on the 12th, but were told they could not speak until the meeting on the 14th!?!...i don't know what happened on the 14th, but what a slap in the face!...
you would think they would be cool and say "we know you spent your whole day preparing to come down and speak your mind, cancelling other plans etc to make it to this city council meeting - step on up to the podium mister gadfly, what do you have to say about the peterson field?"...but no!...instead in a sense it was this; "sit down and shut up or we'll have you arrested!"...well!...i am highly offended!...
on 30 nov 2005 i wrote in SUPERBIRDLAND! - 'THE ANSWER' - "anyway, like i said before; i feel that THE ANSWER is for a few people to attend a city council meeting and question the council how they feel about the issue (of the peterson field)...call them on it...they will likely try to say that you are out of line, and maybe even have cops pull you over on the way home to intimidate you like they did to a good friend of mine years back, but what else are they really going to do about it?...the first amendment is the law and NO ONE is above the law...the worst they can do is make you wait until the end of the meeting to speak"...
so am i a prophet or what, people?...can i see the future or what, folks?...am i the main oracle or what, ladies and gentlemen!?!...or! can i see a pattern of behavior that is being repeated over and over!?!...yes!...this is nothing new, comrades!...i have seen the city of sunnyvale REPEATEDLY schedule meetings, then wait until the last minute when all the constituents have been told about the meeting to re-schedule it to another day, because THEY KNOW that it takes steam out of the peoples' cause...welcome to the silly game of dealing with city government, folks!...
> a) the photo on the left shows a normal ground squirrel burrow (see also the photo at the bottom of this web page) - b) the photo on the right shows a ground squirrel burrow suspiciously covered with dirt >
> 17 dec 2005 / DESTROYING EVIDENCE? - lately i have repeatedly found once normal ground squirrel burrows covered-up with dirt in what seems to be a SCUSD attempt at destroying evidence of wildlife living in the peterson field, as ground squirrels do not cover up their own holes (see photos above)...
what is the difference between poisoning ground squirrels (as the SCUSD apparently did a few months back) and burying them alive?...come on, what gives people of the SCUSD!?!...have you no shame!?!...luckily the ground is moist and they can dig around easily right now, but for the most part ground squirrels stay deep within their burrows in the winter in a fetal position waiting for the return of spring...many years ago the ground squirrel habitat range once went all the way out to the gates by dunford way, and they are once again slowly re-taking their old habitat...see those pine cones laying around the outside of the burrow on the left?...the ground squirrels have apparently taken a liking to the cones...tree squirrels rely on the pine cones as well for sustenance...
also, i saw a sunnyvale tree crew out cutting down a perfectly healthy carob tree right by the raynor park water well on friday morning, and one of the crew guys told me they are installing a wi-fi tower so the city can communicate with the well from afar...the parks department authorized the tree removal, but did the neighborhood?...no!...could this be some kind of precursor to development in the peterson field, making the adjacent water supply more remotely accessible?...i want answers!...
SUPERFUND CLEANUP - anyway, he also told me north sunnyvale gets largely hetch hetchy water, mid sunnyvale gets a mixture of hetch hetchy and well water depending on the time of the year, and our section of the city apparently gets its' water largely from the raynor water well, which for your information is only a few hundred yards from one of the largest superfund cleanup sites in the silicon valley at homestead and tantau...
(go to: http://www.svtc.org/ecomaps/svtc_maps/maps.htm) - fun fact: the new kaiser permanente hosital is located @ homestead road and lawrence expressway (see map below)!?!...
while i continue to use the tap water to bathe and water plants etc, I DO NOT DRINK THE LOCAL TAP WATER, as i have known too many people who have died and/or suffered from cancer in this neighborhood, and since i really do not know the carcinogenic cause i am not taking any chances...i get all my drinking water from aqua technology @ homestead and hollenbeck - they distill their water instead of using reverse-osmosis filtration, which is much better as it restructures the water molecules - >>> check out the AQUA TECHNOLOGY WEB SITE @ http://www.aquatechnology.net/ <<<

> 11 sep 2005 (revised 7 nov 2005) - SAVE THE PETERSON FIELD! - the SCUSD board of trustees held an overflowing community input meeting regarding potential changes to the peterson middle school field on thursday september 8th...i arrived late to the meeting because of some last minute flyer distribution (and my only chance to add my two cents worth was a semi-blurted medea benjamin-like outburst from the back of the chambers towards the end of the meeting) - but i did hear a few important last minute comments from the board; a) they seem to be against selling off any of the peterson middle school property; and intend to retain control of it, but roger barnes begs to differ (beg all you want mister barnes!) - and b) apparently the city of sunnyvale has been rather uncooperative with the SCUSD about the field matter...hmmm...
the board members apparently said that the city of sunnyvale has been getting "flak" from angry constituents about this highly contentious matter, so i suggest that you give them some more "flak" by emailing the city council @ council@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us (or go to their web site @ http://www.ci.sunnyvale.ca.us) - the city of sunnyvale probably thought this was going to be a smooth sailing done deal slam dunkeroo, but i guess not...this land determination process will take many moons to complete, and only a small percentage of the process is now done - so this is just the beginning...
>>> View White Paper / Peterson Field Advisory Committee Recommendation <<<
WE CAN have a hand in bringing changes to the peterson middle school field; for instance - 1) protect endangered species habitat by extending ground squirrel habitat, as this costs almost nothing to maintain, yet has innumerable benefits...endangered burrowing owls have been seen living in the peterson field recently, and these owls often rely on old ground squirrel burrows for habitat, therefore making both burrowing owls and ground squirrels interconnected species worthy of equal protection - 2) require that all permit holding large event field users pay a refundable $250-$500 field usage fee, refundable only when all litter generated from the event is cleaned up - 3) require a field usage good neighbor agreement mandating that all residential speed limits be adhered to when entering and exiting the neighborhood - 4) require that all large event field users park in the peterson parking lot to reduce traffic congestion on adjacent neighborhood streets, etc (parking on the dirt kicks up horrendous dust clouds) - 5) allow only 5-6 vehicles per field gate to park on the street by the field, with only necessary sports equipment trucks allowed on the field - 6) post a full accounting of all field maintenance costs on the SCUSD web site and actively seek cost saving solutions like utilizing neighborhood volunteers for basic field maintenance, etc - 7) replace the old wood in the bleachers and baseball diamonds with recycled plastic materials - 8) redraft field usage rules to allow dog walking with leashes etc - 9) install 5-6 new permanent garbage cans bolted to the ground like the ones over at the raynor park baseball diamond - 10) create a field usage grading system on the superbirdland! web page ranging from A through F (last week the football people got a C+ on their cleanup) - etcetcetc...
the next meeting regarding the peterson field will be a school board meeting @ the SCUSD headquarters in december 2005 - so stay tuned!...check out the SCUSD website @ http://www.scu.k12.ca.us/ - or call the SCUSD @ 408-423-2000 - Santa Clara Unified School District - 1889 Lawrence Road - Santa Clara, CA 95051 - > the SCUSD headquarters is located on the frontage road adjacent to lawrence expressway just behind CHILI'S right by the intersection of lawrence expressway & el camino real...

NEIGHBORHOOD COPWATCH
after several years of lawless speeding in our neighborhood (within 500 yards of a school zone) i got fed up and started writing down the infractions that i witnessed here in the mighty SUPERBIRDLAND! web page...i then created this NEIGHBORHOOD COPWATCH SECTION that not only serves as a way to keep an eye on police activity in the neighborhood and report to you what i see, but also to bring infractions that i witness to the attention of the police...shit, i'm like ted nugent without the gun or the badge, baby - the mighty lik roper is watching, so PLEASE SLOW DOWN!...
<><><>
> 7 apr 2006 / EXCESSIVE SPEED and EXHIBITION OF SPEED - this punk came speeding down teal drive today at just after 12 noon and nearly hit me in the street purposely while travelling at a high rate of speed (about 60-70 mph in a 25 mph zone on the wrong side of the road - and adjacent to a day care center for small children) - he then disappeared into his mommy and daddy's garage @ lillick and thunderbird...
the sunnyvale police said to call them if i was bothered by this punk ever again, and that might just be a good idea...i actually wasn't going to write anything about this event until my doorbell rang at around 9:30 pm tonight and no one was there (gee, my friends and i used to play ding-dong ditch-it way back in elementary school)...you too can call the city of sunnyvale complaint hotline @ 408-730-7100 monday thru friday to bring our neighborhood's incessant speeding issue to the attention of the proper city officials - by the way; the sunnyvale police have been out patrolling the neighborhood in the mornings quite a bit lately and this is a good thing - thanks!...
> 28 mar 2006 / NO PASSING DUMBASS! - yesterday afternoon at about 4:20 pm as i was minding my own business travelling down dunford way doing the posted speed limit of 25 mph, this dumbass suddenly came up behind me and passed my vehicle doing WAY over the speed limit...i then followed the brazen criminal and took the photo seen above...please follow the laws in this neighborhood or do not pass through it...thank you..
> 25 mar 2006 / WHAT SPEEDING TICKETS? - i keep seeing sunnyvale cops sort of aimlessly cruising through the neighborhood but never giving out any speeding tickets, so what is up with that?...i say give out some speeding tickets on dunford way at peak traffic times, otherwise what good are you?...come on!...get to work!...
> 18 mar 2006 / 11 PM SATURDAY NIGHT - at about 11:03 pm on saturday night a vehicle came speeding down dunford way doing about 80 mph and made a left turn on benton (heading towards the cameras mounted at the intersection of lawrence expressway and benton street)...
> 16 mar 2006 / DAYCARE SPEEDERS - vehicles using the patrick henry facility have been seen speeding dangerously thru the neighborhood between roughly 8 am and 9:30 am Mon-Fri...while most people are driving slower now, a few are still going way too fast...and there is still way too much speeding on dunford way around dinner time from about 5-6 pm - up until about 7:30 or 8 pm...
>14 mar 2006 / WEEKEND WARRIORS - my own independent investigation found excessive speeding on dunford way last weekend between about 10 am and 1 pm saturday, with less speeding on sunday...PLEASE SLOW DOWN...
> 9 mar 2006 / PLEASE SLOW DOWN - an undercover cop came rushing through my neighborhood yesterday and ignored the 19 mph advisory while i was about to walk through a crosswalk - PLEASE SLOW DOWN IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD! - thanks!...
> 6 feb 2006 / DANGEROUS BLIND CORNER - i heard that there has been about 9 accidents at the corner of benton street and flora vista avenue because vehicles often speed around the corner by the fire station then plow into other vehicles coming to and from flora vista, and apparently an occasional police precense is not enough...the city of santa clara needs to bolster traffic calming measures along benton street to slow people down around that blind corner...
> 18 feb 2006 / HIT AND RUN - while driving directly behind this car on flora vista avenue in santa clara, several people and i witnessed the vehicle purposely swerve to the left and hit a male duck which was then left to die in the middle of the road...i followed the vehicle to the lawrence expressway and benton street intersection, took this photo with my verizon camera phone before returning to the scene of the crime, then whisked the duck off to wildlife rescue in palo alto with my friend ana (and she made a $10 dollar donation)...you can call wildlife rescue in palo alto @ 650-494-7283 (mon-fri / 2-5 pm) to check on the status of duck #83 or perhaps make a donation if you wish @ http://www.wildliferescue.ws/...
> 27 feb 2006 / ROAD RAGING JACKASS 3 - while feeding ducks in the same place i have done for about ten years, i was threatened and harassed by some idiotic jackass fool who literally stood in front of my car and blocked my passage in the street...i have heard that animal rights activists are the most harassed of all activists, and this is proof, so why don't you go F#%K yourself, mister jackass #3 - i'll be feeding those ducks until THE DAY I DIE...the real problem is the 1 in 10 idiots who for whatever reason hate ducks and run over them when passing through - and more often than not it is people who live at the LAKE TERRACE APARTMENTS, as i have witnessed this MANY TIMES in the past - (most people at the apartments like the ducks, though)...
there was a national media outrage about ducks being run over in a campbell car wash last year, and if it matters in campbell; it matters in santa clara as well - so remember to watch out for ducks in the neighborhood and PLEASE SLOW DOWN - (by the way; instead of calling the santa clara police about jackass #3; i have instead reported this incident and several others including the HIT AND RUN incident seen above to the FBI citizen's complaint hotline) note: since this writing i have not seen jackass #3 and i doubt that i will again - and if mister jack confronts me or tries to hold me against my will ever again HE WILL BE SORRY - also, i just talked to an anonymous source who told me the old anti-duck lake terrace apartment manager is now gone and has been replaced by a pro-duck manager, and the old groundskeeper who was allegedly killing baby ducklings has been canned as well - all for now...
> 28 feb 2006 / EXCESSIVE SPEED - my own independent investigation found excessive speeding on thunderbird avenue @ 2:26 pm by a resident who lives at lillick and thunderbird, and also at around 7:00 pm on dunford way...PLEASE SLOW DOWN...thank you...
> 15 feb 2006 / 90 MPH IN A 25 MPH ZONE? - on wednesday morning @ about 2:12 am PDT a vehicle came racing through the neighborhhood doing at least 90 mph, approximately 65 mph over the speed limit...read state traffic and speed laws @ http://www.mit.edu/~jfc/laws.html
> 1 feb 2006 / ROAD RAGING JACKASS 2 - at about 12:30 pm PDT an extremely large white 4x4 truck came ripping down benton doing about 20-30 miles over the posted speed limit of 19 mph, heading towards teal drive within 500 feet of a school zone - (a message to the SCPD - you can probably check the camera images @ lawrence and benton to see the truck - and if the SCPD chooses to do nothing about the speeders on this street i will post my own public domain photos of the various speeders ON THIS WEB PAGE, got it?...YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!)...BUT! i want to thank many of the neighbors for slowing down in the neighborhood, though...except for the occasional jackass, most people are being pretty good about slowing down - thanks!...
> 27 jan 2006 / ROAD RAGING JACKASS 1 - right after i finished putting out flyers for the upcoming city council meeting on monday @ around 5 pm PDT, some road raging jackass in a silver 4x4 truck was repeatedly doing U-turns on the street where i was delivering the flyers, then sitting suspiciously for a few minutes without exiting the truck...when i finally almost got to my vehicle, he did a U-turn again and drastically increased speed as he passed by me on foot...
i then quickly started my vehicle and followed the 4x4 to get a photo in case he was up to no good or something...i have always heard about activists being harassed in san jose, as the san jose city government is inherently corrupt - but not necessarily in sunnyvale (other than being repeatedly harassed by the sunnyvale police since i started my opposition to the peterson field development - see below) - so i have been almost looking forward to this for quite awhile, and had my camera on hand...
after taking the photo of the truck, i turned and started to leave, then the 4x4 turned around and proceeded to follow me around for about 15 minutes through the neighborhood around in circles before eventually parking in the kohl's parking lot for a few minutes, waiting for me to come over and talk or something before finally leaving at a high rate of speed towards santa clara on the el camino real...
if this is some kind of government intimidation technique, it didn't work because i put out about 250 more flyers the very next day and spoke at the city council meeting tuesday night regardless...so! if that possibly government-sponsored road raging jackass wants me to be afraid, all i can say is MEGA BYTE ME, chump; why don't you go F#%K yourself, mister 4x4!?! - (oh! and adding to this; my internet connection 'accidentally' went down temporarily on tuesday morning for the first time in years!?!...hmmm) - read more in the NEIGHBORHOOD COPWATCH SECTION below...

> 20 jan 2006 / EXCESSIVE SPEED - at about 2 pm today while putting out flyers for an upcoming city council meeting, i noticed cars speeding excessively on norman drive between marion and el camino real regardless of the new traffic calming device at the intersection of marion way...can the sunnyvale police please watch this stretch of street and ticket some of these speeders?...thank you...
> 5 jan 2005 / EXHIBITION OF SPEED - an individual in a small red truck on flora vista avenue in santa clara was seen grossly exhibiting speed and acting in a semi-threatening manner when confronted about it on wednesday, january 4th 2005 @ 4:44 pm PDT...
> 16 dec 2005 / EXCESSIVE SPEED - an individual who lives at the intersection of thunderbird and lillick has been seen on numerous occasions (usually weekdays at around 1:30 pm) doing about 50-60 mph in the 25 mph zone on thunderbird...some people are getting sick of this punk using our neighborhood street as a race track, so hopefully writing about this will bring it to an end soon...for those interested; you can call the city of sunnyvale complaint hotline @ 408-730-7100 monday thru friday to bring this issue to the attention of the proper city officials - thanks!...
> 9 dec 2005 / SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE - a very large dark red or blue colored 4x4 truck was seen acting suspiciously outside of a house on thunderbird way friday night december 9th at around 8 pm...after hearing a disturbance outside, i quickly went outside with a baseball bat in hand, but the suspects fled...the truck was last seen making a left onto benton street from dunford way, heading towards lawrence expressway - and (for police department purposes only) the camera images from the intersection of lawrence expressway and benton street between around 7:55 and 8:00 PM will likely reveal the suspect's vehicle...i am considering doing an independent neighborhood search to photograph the vehicle's license plate if i can find it - (one other thing; i saw a police car pulling over a speeder today in front of my house! - good job!)...
> a little story - a friend of mine who lives in santa clara says that they do not have a gang problem in their neighborhood...why?...because whenever those little faggot gansta punks show up, the whole damn neighborhood comes outside and chases them off...no bullshit...all for now...
> 3 dec 2005 / ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY? - the city of sunnyvale installed speed humps on dunford way along the peterson field about two weeks ago...this is a record amount of time for them to do this, so while i applaud their installation; i am also a bit suspicious because i can't believe they are actually doing something good for once...it is very unlike them, you know?...there must be an alterior motive...
my suspicious side says that these are part of an environmental study on dunford way to gauge the present impact of traffic on the street against the bigger traffic mess it could be made into if they decide to ruin our neighborhood with unwanted new development in the peterson field...
(oh! and the city of santa clara really should be installing the strips on the other end of the street if this is to be a thorough assessment...last time santa clara installed them, they did it for about two days on a holiday week when traffic levels were unusually low)...
if this extended speed stripping truly is an environmental study, the focus should instead be on the peterson field, because not only are there protected burrowing owls and ground squirrels dwelling there, but also tiny indigenous voles - small ground dwelling rodents (also known as meadow mice) whose ancestors were here long before all of us...(i found a cute little baby vole with it's eyes still shut and laying upside down outside of its' burrow yesterday morning, and carefully placed it back inside)...
also, our local flock of seagulls from the baylands has returned to the peterson field once again! (not the band 'a flock of seagulls', but an actual flock of sea birds)...it occurred to me that perhaps at least part of the reason the gulls are here is to feed on the voles...
a golden eagle was seen hunting the seagulls about a year ago by the old man with the dog, and we thought maybe they abandoned the field because of the eagle threat, but i guess not...welcome back to your habitat, seagulls!...if you watch closely, you can see that the peterson field is a thriving habitat for multiple species (including recreating humans); it is truly an ecosystem that must be carefully protected...
and have any of you ever wondered why hardly anybody ever uses raynor park?...i'll tell you why; because it is too manicured; too nicely landscaped; too perfect - nobody wants to mess it up...the peterson field is a beautiful chunk of land; a wide open space that is necessary to allow our souls to breath...
> 30 nov 2005 / THE ANSWER - due to the loud silence on the part of the sunnyvale city council regarding the subject of the peterson field (since their secret meeting awhile back) it occurred to me; if a few brave constituent souls attended an upcoming city council meeting to ask those jokers how they feel about the peterson field, or how they will vote on this issue (on camera for the whole city to see), we might just get a straight answer from them...
i have heard that the deal is on and i have heard the the deal is off, and i still don't know what the deal is...i would attend a city council meeting to grill them on the issue, but they clearly have it out for me and have harassed me enough at this point, so for now i will refrain from attending...i am sick of having my civil rights violated - and besides; i can be much more effective from the outside anyway...
last i heard at the SCUSD meeting in september, there was supposed to be another meeting in december when the city of sunnyvale open space person will magically become available (in the middle of winter when nobody goes out to public hearings; probably on a convenient day like december 23rd or something), and as of this writing the SCUSD web site has not been updated since the september 8th meeting (???)...
anyway, like i said before; i feel that THE ANSWER is for a few people to attend a city council meeting and question the council how they feel about the issue...call them on it...they will likely try to say that you are out of line, and maybe even have cops pull you over on the way home to intimidate you like they did to a good friend of mine years back, but what else are they really going to do about it?...the first amendment is the law and NO ONE is above the law...the worst they can do is make you wait until the end of the meeting to speak...
city council meetings are held most tuesday nights @ 7pm in the council chambers within city hall / 456 west olive avenue / telephone: (408) 730-7473 / fax: (408) 730-7699 / e-mail: council@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us / url: http://www.ci.sunnyvale.ca.us mailing address: p.o. box 3707 sunnyvale, ca 94088-3707...to view the city council's schedule - go to: http://sunnyvale.ca.gov/City+Council/Council+Meetings/
(and if you cannot attend a city council meeting, just email your baited peterson field questions to: council@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us - if you are lucky enough to get an answer from them, they will likely speak from both sides of their mouth on the issue and say nothing specific; remember - the november 2005 election is over and they are probably feeling cocky again, but it is worth a try)...
EASY HOME ENERGY CONSERVATION
~
> 4 dec 2005 - the two photos seen above were taken in the hallway of my residence...i have essentially hung a $3.00 curtain rod (available at OSH or home depot) across the top of the ceiling, and a twin bed sheet w/ two tiny holes cut in the corner edges to slip the curtain rod through...a larger sheet would fit more snug to the walls and seal off the edges better, so i would suggest using at least a queen or even king size sheet...at the base is a piece of wood about 2-3 feet long holding down the sheet...
~
on the other side of the sheet is the kitchen and living room section of the house...i have closed off all the heating vents in the kitchen and living room, and only leave open vents in the specific room or rooms that i am using at any given time...this keeps heat in the back of the house when needed and should cut my energy consumption by roughly 40-50% based on square footage (save money! $$$)...the total square footage of the kitchen and living room equals almost the total of the rest of the house, so why should i heat it when i am not using it?!?...(the light in the hall is a super efficient bulb that only uses 25 watts worth of power, but puts out 100 watts worth of light)...
~
the first picture shows the sheet with the heater off, the second with the heater on...notice the cold air trying desperately to enter the hallway in the second photo!...the thermostat can be seen on the wall to the left of the sheet, and when i open the sheet and let the cold air through for too long, the heater almost immediately responds to the lowered air temperature and quickly goes back on...
~
if you stick your arm through the sheet into the other room, it sometimes feels like a refrigerator, while the hallway remains toasty warm - and you can attain this result with just a simple sheet, curtain rod and piece of wood!...you would think there would be a lot of heat leakage from room to room, but it is much less than you might expect...
~
oh! and since darker colors tend to retain heat, i would suggest a dark colored sheet to increase efficiency...a collapsible accordion door might even be a better idea, unless you have pets who need to roam past this heat barrier at night to eat or excrete, in that case i would recommend the sheet method...the first night i put the sheet up, one of my cats swiftly ripped it down!...what is this thing!?! he said!...
~
and! it doesn't have to be drab and boring like this white sheet, you can go to a fabric shop and pick out some cool looking fabric and custom make your own heat barrier...be creative and save money at the same time!...i personally set my thermostat at 64 during the night, use lots of blankets to keep warm when i sleep, and always wear socks around the house...this is a simple method that almost anyone can utilize to conserve energy and lower heating bills! > read more ideas @ http://motherearthnews.com/energy-efficient-heating-cooling
~
INDOOR PETS - ALSO! it's been pretty cold at night lately, so i would suggest bringing your pets indoors if possible, or at least into your garage if you can...some pets actually want to stay outside, but most will come inside if you let them...you can always check the weather @ http://www.wunderground.com/ - when it gets below 35 degrees, bring them inside...for inside or outside pets; a simple large flat banana box (for instance) from the grocery store with an old pillow inside works fine for most cats and small dogs...i regularly change the pillowcases that i put on my cats' beds because animals always prefer a clean spot to sleep, if possible...

> 12 nov 2005 / COMBIBULATOR MECHANISM - about a month ago in santa clara i took a photo of this strange looking combibulator mechanism and the next day it was gone!?!...similar devices have been popping up on the top of streetlight poles all over the santa clara valley, and i have heard that they are wi-fi antennas for computers, but george soros thinks they are bush administration surveillance devices...i do not know what the truth is...
> 19 nov 2005 / MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD - after complaining last weekend to sunnyvale neighborhood preservation specialist john amos about what i see to be negligent behavior on the part of the city of sunnyvale over the past few years when it comes to traffic calming on our street - and! after calling the FBI citizen's complaint hotline about the various civil rights abuses i have experienced over the years (see 17 nov 2005 SUPERBIRDLAND! posting titled GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION) - the city finally sprung to life on monday with speed strips up and down the street and increased police patrols...this of course means that i can now abandon my tentative plan of pelting passing speeders with water balloons (just kidding)...
the only problem is that the patrols were done at the wrong times...the best time to patrol for speeders is monday thru friday - a) 7:30 - 9:30 am - b) 11:45 am - 12:30 pm - and c) 3:00 - 6:30 pm...the weekends are ususally pretty mellow, but when night falls on friday and saturday traffic heats up a bit as people head out for the good times...oh, and i also wanted to say that the city of santa clara is not holding up their end of the deal; the speed counter on benton street last monday was just a bandaid, people (see 16 sep 2005 SUPERBIRDLAND! posting titled APOLITICAL HOLDUP?)...
and! it is good to see the neighborhood coming together by driving more safely through it, after all; who wants multi-ton projectiles flying through their neighborhood at 70 mph?...nobody, that's who!...good job, people of the neighborhood!...
back when i was much younger i used to think the concept of mister rogers' neighborhood was really stupid, and in high school right before we played our set of music, my first kegger party band used to play that old spoof of mister rogers talking to the bass player about visiting the magic kingdom...
but now i view mister rogers in a different light; not only do i now see the importance of visiting the magic kingdom, but also the importance of having a strong community and a safe place to live...mister rogers was right after all...
DEAR MR. AMOS,
~
I am responding to you with this letter so that you know that I know about the complaint you received regarding trash and recycling containers, and also to inform you about your current ordinance as it relates to the placement and collection times of trash containers in other parts of the city.
~
While Neighborhood Preservation may have received an anonymous complaint on november 4th, 2005 regarding one police-approved recycling container being in public view at all times - on Sunday november 20th, 2005 I performed independent site inspections in adjacent Sunnyvale neighborhoods between El Camino real – Lawrence expressway – Homestead road – and Wolfe road and found roughly 192 garbage cans and recycling containers in full view from the street in violation of city codes 19.38.030 and 8.16.050. (see below)
~
This is obviously a matter of national security importance, so I am submitting this complaint online to ensure that you promptly get to work writing up those 192+ warning letters to the various landowners who are either unaware, or flagrantly scoffing at these ‘important’ city ordinances.
~
And since the Neighbohood Preservation staff likely does not work on weekends I am calling for weekend work so that this garbage can and recycling container problem can be righted expeditiously. After all; how can they successfully enforce the refuse container ordinance if there are no code inspectors working on the weekends when the containers are supposed to be brought in out of public view?
~
Sincerely, Mister Lik Roper
19.38.030. Recycling and solid waste enclosures - (b) Residential development – (1) single-family and multifamily uses of three or fewer units shall store recycling and solid waste containers so that they are screened from public view from the public right-of-way. Containers may remain in public view for purposes of collection in accordance with Chapter 8.16.
~
8.16.050. Enclosure of solid waste containers - It is unlawful to permit any solid waste or recycling container to remain in public view from any public right-of-way in any R-0, R-1, R-1.5, r-1.7/PD or R-2 district except as is necessary to accommodate schedule curbside pick-ups as herein after defined. Containers are permitted in public view only during the 54-hour period commencing at 12:01 a.m. on the day preceding the day of scheduled pick-up and terminating at 6:00 a.m. on the day following such pick-up.

> 17 nov 2005 / GOVERNMENT CORRUPTION - i sent the email below out on the 8th of november (to my usual bulk mail list including members of the sunnyvale city council), and today i got a letter sent out on the 10th of november by the city of sunnyvale 'neighborhood preservation division' about moving something off the side of the street which the sunnyvale police recently said was OK to place there!?!...they are either up to their old tricks of retaliating against an activist (right after an election which i drastically affected), or as usual their separate city departments are totally unconnected and unaware of what the others are doing...
furthermore; > 1) unless the city is going to 'preserve' our neighborhood by doing something about the litter in and around it at the peterson field and elsewhere in the adjacent vicinity (that i spent two hours cleaning up yesterday), or 2) unless the city plans on 'preserving' the open space in the peterson field, and 3) unless the city is going to pull their tiny craniums from their posteriors and decide whether our street is their jurisdiction or not and add some permanent traffic calming measures - 4) i suggest you all just go and screw yourselves...~
you know; i was thinking just the other day; "i wonder when the city of sunnyvale is going to harass me again for my activism?"...well, here it is, folks!...you know; when jackass idiots came to my door with threats at 2 am (two cats they made threats towards disappeared from the neighborhood shortly after this), the sunnyvale police did nothing about it; and when local vandal punks purposely vandalized my property in front of two neighbors last saturday night and i didn't call 911 because the police probably wouldn't do anything about it anyway, i end up being harassed by the city for the same garbage can that was vandalized!?!...

a few weeks ago i came home and found a sunnyvale cop on the street by my house standing by an overturned garbage can in the street by my neighbors' house...he said it had been happening alot and if he could have caught the perpetrators they would have been swiftly arrested...the cop was really cool...
~
i recently went out by myself and found the perpetrators' vehicle who knocked over and stole my garbage can last week (on saturday november 5th - and the neighborhood preservation guy got an anonymous call on november 4th - how much you wanna bet the person who made the anonymous call on the 4th is the same person who knocked over and stole the garbage can on the 5th?) - and i even went as far as listing the license on my web site for all to see, and what does the city of sunnyvale do?...they hassle me about the garbage can!?!...
~
is there no end to your disorderly conduct, organized crime and corruption, city of sunnyvale?...i have had my activist civil rights violated so many times by local governments that i can no longer count...because of this; i am considering listing every civil rights violation that i have experienced on my web site (1-10) in graphic detail; everything from being threatened with arrest after speaking out at a santa clara city council meeting regarding the 1333 lawrence property - to receiveing a restraining order through the city of sunnyvale after being almost run over and assaulted by a neighbor who has since moved...can anyone say 'lawsuit'?...i'm sick of your negligence!...you're all lucky i don't believe in taking taxpayer money for your mistakes!...once again; you can bite me city of sunnyvale, go screw yourselves; i'll see you all in the court of public opinion! (read email below)...

Sent: Tuesday, November 08, 2005 8:23 AM / Subject: Re: OH SHUT UP, SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS - basically, the city of sunnyvale made the mistake of trying to keep a secret one of the most important decision to happen in this city in many years (the peterson field development)...i blew the secret out of the water from an anonymous source and all hell has broken loose ever since...the cities around here have a had a free ride when it comes to developing land, and that ride is now coming to a quick end...too fucking bad, city of sunnyvale...bite me!...
~
and don't try to turn it into a divisive rich/poor issue, mercury news; the peterson field is going to be spared because of the amount of people using it who come from all over the place, rich and poor...i talked to a guy from east san jose last friday who loves the peterson field, he comes to collect bottles to recycle for money...he hates san jose and says it is only getting worse...you know; fuck the developers, i think we won this one...
~
oh, and passing out about 3,000 flyers and getting the whole neighborhood involved didn't hurt either...i have put ALOT of work into gathering people together, so i deserve at least part of the credit for saving the field (and bringing chaos to the november 2005 city council election...yes, for once politics in sunnyvale actually matters - and all because of ME!...hah!)...the bottom line is that the SCUSD board is not going to let it happen...period. end of story.

> 7 nov 2005 / $100,000 IN LITTERING FINES? - the football people down at the peterson field last saturday made a big old mess which i partially cleaned up on sunday...after cleaning up every damn speck of litter from that field the day before, at $1000 per infraction i would say that i picked up about $100,000 dollars worth of litter violations on friday, and about $50,000 dollars worth on sunday from the saturday football crowd...needless to say; unless you all have deep pockets, i would suggest laying off the littering, thanks!...
~
also! while cleaning up litter around the saber cats compound on friday (which is looking a bit cleaner, thanks), a members of the saber cats organization said something to me like; "hey activist - blah blah blah"...i couldn't tell whether it was a kind word or some assholian comment, so if it was in fact a kind hello, then hello to you kind sir! - but if it was some sort of asshole jock comment from hell, then fuck you you too, motherfucker!...either respect the wishes of this neighborhood, or we'll boot your asses out, got it it bucko?...

> 23 oct 2005 / THIS JUST IN: SHADY LAND DEAL - an anonymous source told me that one of the last parcels of open space left in the city of santa clara @ benton and lawrence expressway is slated to become an apartment complex within about 2 years...the property has supposedly been owned by a building developer for many years and rumors have it that he went to lake tahoe a few months ago to seal the apartment complex deal...
the same anonymous source claims that the owner of this land is not only considering poisoning threatened ground squirrels at benton and lawrence (in violation of federal and state laws), but has also supposedly pondered poisoning larger mammals (probably from a nearby creek) at his other pumpkin patch acreage on saratoga avenue...there is also supposedly a short-term plan to cement over the main squirrel burrows underneath the two main shade trees in the center of the benton/lawrence acreage!?!...
i have been monitoring these ground squirrels at the benton and lawrence expressway lot for many years, and there are at least 5-10 of these animals living on the property...since the city of santa clara has shown itself to be negligent when it comes to the protection of open space and/or endangered or threatened animals, i do not trust them farther than i can throw them at this point and plan on blowing this story out of the water x1,000,000 to bring it to the attention of the entire local community ahead of time in an attempt to thwart this shady land deal...
given the surreptitious manner in which this deal was made (i.e. no notice to anybody—the local residents, etc) this whole deal should be called off IMMEDIATELY, and the process legitimately renewed with full public notice and involvement...also, since santa clara county has recently embarked on a large scale wildlife and open space conservation effort, this is a good place for them to start their valiant efforts - (to read more about secret land deals: check out METRO @ http://www.metroactive.com/papers/metro/10.19.05/gardens-0542.html)... ~

> 25 oct 2005 / PSYCHO JOGGER DUDE - this morning at about 6:50 am, some psycho jogger dude ran by and purposefully knocked over one of our garbage cans, then ran off into the dark...this kind of chickenshit nonsense has been happening quite a bit lately, so i ran down the street and caught a glimpse of the psycho jogger dude close-up...if i see him again, i hope to take a photo of him and post it on this web site...also! saturday night around 7 pm the same garbage can was knocked down by some knuckleheads in a large white 4X4 truck, and i watched it go down the street towards the raynor park area...since the vehicle was too big to fit into a garage, i am considering scouring the neighborhood to look for the truck this week...if i can find the truck, i will post a photo of the license plate...

(i had an old friend named bobby harrison, and sometimes he would do stupid things like knock over peoples' garbage cans just for fun while out drinking and driving on the weekends...one day his uncle said something like this to him over dinner; "bobby, why don't you take all of that energy you put into doing stupid things and channel it into more positive and productive activities?"...this was a turning point for young bobby, and from that point on he changed his ways)...
BRING CHICKENS BACK TO SUNNYVALE! - long ago before the semiconductor industry moved in to create the silicon valley, chickens once ruled the bucolic santa clara valley - but somewhere along the wisecracker line, chickens were somehow outlawed in the city of sunnyvale...i remember hearing an old rooster crow every morning at sunrise from the backyard of a house along the edge of the peterson field, and i miss that old rooster...you know; too bad if some of you out there don't like the rooster's crow at dawn, you need to get your lazy asses up out of bed!...you can email the sunnyvale city council and tell them how you feel @ council@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us - don't be a chicken, just do it!...
> 30 sep 2005 - NO MORE SABER CRAP, PLEASE! - after months of focusing on the peterson field, a festering problem still exists just one field over in the patrick henry field; it seems at least some members of the saber cats football organization do not want me or anybody else to clean up the litter in their midst - and! the city of sunnyvale is failing to enforce existing litter laws to correct the situation...i got flak from some saber coach dude today while attempting to clean up litter around the saber compound, like i stepped into the lions den or something (see: 'VALLEY OF THE JERKS' on the CONTACT US web page) so i gave him some verbal flak right back...a brief message to the saber cats football team or anyone else who uses the patrick henry campus: please be respectful of our neighborhood's universal wish of having safe and clean streets with no speeding - we have pedestrians, bicyclists, pets and wildlife to protect here in this unique neighborhood, and stormdrains which lead to a creek nearby...with freedom comes responsibility, so please use your freedom wisely...
you can email the sunnyvale city council @ council@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us - or send email to the saber cats @ info@saultsabercats.com and tell them how you feel about this situation - call 408-730-7140 or 7699 (see below) to report litter violations...that said; i wish the best of luck to the saber cats football team in the coming season, may you win all of your games and make us all proud...
> 26 sep 2005 / I FEEL FINE $$$ - i was recently cleaning up litter in the peterson field and happened upon a nice lady out walking her dog...she said that while the sunnyvale police have been fining people $200 for dog walking in some sunnyvale parks across wolfe road, the peterson field is getting known as a safe place to walk dogs...i told her that i have a hard time getting the police down here for traffic enforcement, so do you really think they're gonna show up and hand out dog walking tickets?...probably not, and especially after an SCUSD board of trustees member admitted at the last meeting that he in fact walks his dog out in the peterson field as well...but! i do think that the city is trying to put pressure on dog walkers because the council recently passed an ordinance limiting the length of dog leashes to 6 feet!?!...question: why isn't the city of sunnyvale giving out $1000 littering fines for peterson field litter bugs?...i must admit the weekend football folks seem to be cleaning up the field better with each passing week, but a pervasive littering problem still exists, and it must be dealt with...while excess spam may clog our computers, litter not only clogs stormdrains and pollutes our waterways, but it also generally degrades our quality of life here in the santa clara valley, so let's upgrade our lives by cracking down on litter...
> 20 sep 2005 / 25 MPH ENFORCED? - exposing the true depth and scale of city of santa clara ineptitude (and corruption?); a santa clara cop showed up at my door today saying he got a neighborhood complaint regarding the city installed 19 mph signs and duck crossing signs which i literally had to pull teeth to get installed many years ago!?!...the cop said some anonymous neighbor questioned whether i installed these city signs myself of all things, and that he heard that i do not like renters (?)...what a crock of shit that is!...hmmm...well, i don't like paying rent, but i certainly have nothing against renters; you know, why would i go on record advocating renters rights (see below - RENTER RIP-OFF) if i didn't like renters?...is someone down at the city of santa clara suffering from cranial-posterior syndrome, or is this just some sort of way to distract from the subjects covered in the last few postings?...the cop was generally cool about things, but you know; this isn't the first time that i've been hassled by a cop after trying to get them to do their jobs enforcing the speed limits around here, so it doesn't surprise me one bit...i actually kind of expected it...question: is someone just playing dumb, or are they really just plain dumb, and why did the city put up 25 MPH ENFORCED signs and 19 MPH advisory signs when they have no intention of actually enforcing them?...
> 15 sep 2005 / RENTER RIP-OFF? - the management of the marina playa apartments in santa clara, california has been called criminal by several ex-tenants of the apartment complex, so why is nothing being done about it?...here is one review: "The management are just a bunch of criminals!!! They will gouge you for every penny of your deposit, even if you've had it professionally cleaned yourself. It's doesn't matter if your apartment looks better than when you moved in. Don't ever move here!!!" – (anonymous ex-marina playa apartment renter) - doesn't sound good - read more nightmarish marina playa apartment ratings @ http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/CA-Santa-Clara-Marina-Playa-Apartments-All.html - (adding to this; the marina playa apartment maintenance crew has been seen on numerous occasions attempting to run over the waterfowl that live on the property, which is also a crime - see california anti-cruelty statutes listed below - the marina playa property was mitigated as wildlife habitat for displaced waterfowl by the city of santa clara when the 1333 lawrence pond was illegally allowed to be paved over, but apparently the marina playa management does not want to bear it's legal responsibility to protect these creatures)...
> 16 sep 2005 / APOLITICAL HOLDUP? - those negligent bastards down at the cities of sunnyvale and santa clara have repeatedly ignored our local community's pleas for traffic calming assistance, and a santa clara traffic engineer even went as far as admitting to me that the holdup is a 'political' one (?)...we have been experiencing rampant criminal activity in our neighborhood as of late (speeding etc), and it is getting worse daily - but both cities seem oblivious to this fact...in fact; one of their #1 complaints is speeding - so what do they do? NOTHING! THAT'S WHAT!...
anyway, the people down at city hall are acting like common criminals (much like the speeders) and NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW! - so please help me apply pressure to them so our neighborhood can receive some much needed assistance...you can email the city of santa clara @ MayorandCouncil@ci.santa-clara.ca.us - and the city of sunnyvale @ council@ci.sunnyvale.ca.us - (ALSO! - i ask you to please boycott and/or apply economic pressure to ANY car company that runs tv ads encouraging people to drive around like maniacs - gun manufacturers do not run ads encouraging irresponsible use of their products, so neither should vehicle manufacturers)...
> 23 aug 2005 / EXHIBITION OF SPEED & RECKLESS DRIVING - i was nearly run over on wood duck street yesterday by a vehicle with a driver who knew i was crossing the street, but chose to increase his speed and drive by while burning his tires, nearly missing me and my vehicle...the license number of the white vehicle is 3 PCH 219, and the driver likely lives in the area of wood duck street and peacock court in santa clara...since more people die or are injured every day from vehicular related accidents than from gunfire, this man should be considered a common criminal who is armed and dangerous...he was last seen entering lawrence expressway at benton street...
(that's right, people; no bullshitting around - don't do anything in this neighborhood that you wouldn't do in front of a cop, cause commander roper is like ted nugent without the badge and he'll turn your ass in!...criminal behavior WILL NOT BE TOLERATED in these parts...you know - shit, if he sees you smoking some of that wild hoochie weed, he might even join you - but if you're seen speeding through this neighborhood by commander roper, your license plate number or maybe even a photo of your vehicle could end up being posted in this web site)...
WE TAKE THIS SPEED LIMIT CRAP SERIOUSLY IN THESE PARTS - GOT IT, BUCKO?...
> 15 aug 2005 - WHY IS THIS GATE LOCKED ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS, SCUSD? - locking this gate causes traffic to spill over into the adjacent neighborhood, which brings with it many problems including litter, excessive traffic congestion and speeding (see photos below)...when is the SCUSD going to respond to our complaints about this situation, or are they making us all pay for complaining about the field misuse problems and/or opposing their ass-backards field development plan?...it's a catch 22 situation; keeping this gate locked caused the many complaints that led to the new field development plan (when our neighborhood group asked to have the parking lot opened for field users over two years ago) and not complaining about it allows the field misuse situation to fester...also, why isn't this parcel of land being considered for new housing rather than the acreage out in the peterson field, when it equals roughly the same amount of acreage that is being 'studied' out in the field; contains no endangered or threatened species living on it or under it; and a majority of the people who attended the initial public hearing at peterson back in may agreed with the plan to look at this parcel rather than the other?...
> OZAKI PLAZA or ROPER PLAZA? that is the question! - mister ozaki originally suggested this as the spot for new development, and i ran off with the idea, so i tend to think we should either call it ozaki plaza since mister ozaki came up with the idea, or roper plaza since mister ozaki's son came up with the name lik roper many moons ago (the term lik roper came from the term pub lic p roper ty - public property is the name of a now defunct cover band from palo alto, and public property is exactly what the peterson field is, therefore the public will decide what happens to it!)...
> THE MASTER PLAN - redevelop the tennis courts and part of the pre-existing parking lot from what is now non-endangered cement and asphalt into high-density housing for instance (equalling roughly the same amount of acreage suggested by the current preliminary field plan give or take half an acre) - and make some of the housing available for peterson teachers to make it a 'feel good' proposition for everybody; develop two story structures with basements right where the tennis courts are - but no higher than the pre-existing fence - if not a little bit lower; along with a parallel section of currently under-used parking lot leading out to bryant way; then create a new tennis court right where the outdoor basketball courts currently sit, leaving maybe one or two outdoor basketball courts by the parking lot adjacent to the new tennis courts; with a good 20-30 foot buffer zone with some sort of sports ball retention fence on the tennis courts between the new tennis court and the pre-established nature area - which supports many different species of life - with no outdoor lights to protect both human and wildlife environments; and a few more wall hoops added to the warm up room next to the gym, for instance...
> why are these gates to the peterson parking lot locked on the weekends, SCUSD?...i put out about two thousand flyers for two public hearings where the subject of this locked parking lot came up, and it still remains locked?...why can't people take el camino real to henderson avenue and park in the peterson parking lot instead of all over the adjacent streets?...
> GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT! - this parcel of land in santa clara, california @ 1333 lawrence expressway was once a thriving biologically diverse habitat that used to be the old calabasaz creek...dozens of threatened mallard ducks along with many other species that lived here were either slaughtered or bumped out to make way for this parking lot - including ground squirrels, a blue herring and indigenous fish species trapped when the old calabasaz creek was diverted back in the 1950s because of flooding, etc...and to top it off; most of kaiser permanente that once did business here has moved from this location over to homestead and lawrence expressway, and now there is a new condo complex that needs a duck pond!?! (see that new roof sticking out of the foliage just above the blue sign to the right of parking lot?)...
the hotel management chain that owns this land broke the law by pumping the then botulism infested water from the pond directly into the nearby calabasaz creek, and then cut down a majestic 100 year old tree that likely stood next to the old creek when ohlone indians fished and hunted here many moons ago...most of the foliage along the right hand side of the parking lot is indigenous growth from the old creek that used to serve as protected habitat for mallard ducks during mating season...a santa clara city worker who used to spend time at this same spot back in the 1950s told me that at least some people who worked for the city knew this was the old calabasaz creek regardless of what the city manager recommended (the city manager said it was a man-made pond instead of natural, and that was largely what the city council based their decision upon)...you can read more about the environmental disaster at 1333 lawrence expressway @ http://likroper.com/onlygoodv10n3.htm - (scroll down to duck pond news)...
IN RETROSPECT; good questions - 1) why was a biologically diverse, natural pond paved over for a parking lot when the peterson parking lot sits locked most of the time? - 2) why doesn't paving over endangered species habitat constitute animal cruelty? and also - 3) why can't the 1333 lawrence expressway pond be restored with an extension that goes underneath the roadway to connect it to the other part of the old creek across the road @ the marina playa apartments to reduce roadkill from speeders who exit lawrence expressway at this point?...
A PUBLIC RELATIONS NIGHTMARE FOR THE SCUSD...
> 11 jul 2005 - SCUSD CONTRACT KILLING; ECO-TERRORISM / THE SANTA CLARA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT MURDERS THREATENED GROUND SQUIRRELS! - i just contacted the city of sunnyvale animal cruelty complaint hotline, and apparently since the city stands to gain $$$ from eliminating the ground squirrels in the peterson field, they have refused to do anything about this criminal act by the SCUSD...(the general impression i get from most government workers is that they just want a cushy job and don't really want to do any real work to earn their money)...sunnyvale animal control came by to rescue and treat an imperiled cat a few weeks ago, and the cat has since been returned to the neighborhood, but as for a threatened species...
and! the sunnyvale city council is supposed to be populated by a bunch of environmental-minded democrats, but they will apparently protect a common non-endangered species such as a dog or a cat before a threatened species!?!...i think ALL of those jokers in the city council need to be BOOTED OUT OF OFFICE, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!! (except for julia miller and melinda hamilton) - BULLDOZE CITY HALL!?!...
anyway, after i hung up the phone with sunnyvale dispatch, i immediately called the FBI citizen's complaint hotline for public corruption and reported this violation to them, and sent a few emails off to california fish and game as well...i have said it before; this is my homeland, and i am willing to die to protect it and the animals within it from developmental eco-terrorism on the part of the SCUSD and city of sunnyvale...terrorism against an ecosystem is the true definition of eco-terrorism, and if this is not a 'perfect' example, i don't know what is...there are many people on this earth who are essentially stinky pieces of shit who do not necessarily belong here (mister bush, for example), and whoever is responsible for killing these defenseless ground squirrels is definitely amongst those people, and should do jail time if i have to drag them down there myself...(this makes me glad all over again that i dropped out of high school - THE SCUSD SUCKS!!!)...
my advice to anyone attending any SCUSD school is this: never attend any school that has ruthless killers in charge..."Turn on, tune in, drop out." / go to: http://www.erowid.org/culture/characters/leary_timothy/leary_timothy.shtml - THEN SPEAK OUT! - email arnold the evil ground squirrel terminator @ governor@governor.ca.gov or the SCUSD superintendent @ radams@scusd.net...
oh! and one more thing; a message to all those brave and patriotic self-proclaimed anarchists out there: the bush administration has declared war against the american people and their environment, and i am high commander lik roper ordering you to report to duty immediately!...it's time to step things up a notch and bring this bush administration bullshit to and end once and for all!...IT'S TIME FOR A REGIME CHANGE IN AMERICA!...(JUST DON'T HURT ANYBODY OR BREAK ANYTHING!...thanks!)...
1) EXHIBIT A - THE KILLING FIELD - a tiny victim of the SCUSD's latest murder campaign against threatened species...notice maggots eating away at the carcass...
2) EXHIBIT B - I LOVE YOU, MOM - an innocent victim of SCUSD eco-terrorism, a pregnant mother squirrel lies dead under the bleachers...why are so many human beings such coldhearted pieces of crap?
3) EXHIBIT C - MOVE IT ON OVER - A MEAN OLD DOG IS MOVING IN - i saw this dead squirrel and ran home to get my camera, but when i returned apparently a dog had chewed on the carcass...why is it not ok to directly poison a dog, but ok to indirectly poison a dog through a threatened species?...there are also various raptors (including hawks etc) that frequent the peterson field, and they are likely ingesting poisoned squirrels as well...i have seen about ten dead ground squirrels from the nature area all the way over to the edge of the bleachers...this is clearly an act of terrorism against an ecosystem (otherwise known as ecoterrorism - which carries with it a maximum of life in prison) so i hope the perpetrators of this heinous crime are ready to spend a long time behind bars...what is the difference between jane goodall and I?...not much; different continents, same fight against evil forces that put money before life...(and remember to cancel your subscription to the san jose mercury news for actively encouraging violence against wildlife and/or threatened species on saturday july 16, 2005 - section E)...but here in america, the judges said 'blah blah blah'...you know what? F%#K THE DAMN JUDGES!...IF THEY DO NOT CHOOSE TO FOLLOW THE LAWS THAT ARE PRESENTLY ON THE BOOKS, THEN THEY SHOULD STEP ON DOWN FROM THEIR HIGH HORSES!
> 28 may 2005 - BABY GROUND SQUIRREL - i found this baby ground squirrel right in front of the peterson field bleachers on friday may 27th...after taking this photo, i whisked the baby squirrel off to wildlife rescue in palo alto, and made a $10 donation...

> 13 jun 2005 / SUNNYVALE SUN - if you read the latest sunnyvale sun that is laying on many of your driveways, it has an article about the peterson middle school field - (the link to the article is: http://www.sunnyvalesun.com/ - click on archives - june 8th, 2005) - there is a photo of one of the signs lining peterson's football field, and under the photo it says: "the peterson fields are not supposed to be available for public use...neighbors and outsiders, however, have been using the land for years for personal recreation and league games"...hmmm...yeah and those same neighbors and outsiders have also been paying taxes for years, taxes that are supposed to go to the schools, not questionable special elections...
oh, and the signs on the football field were placed there by the saber cats football team without any public comment by the neighbors...in fact, almost everything that happens at the peterson and patrick henry properties is done with little or no input from the neighbors...so, with all this talk about democracy in the ukraine and iraq, when are we going to finally experience some democracy here in america?...
(YOU CAN READ MORE SUNNYVALE DIRT IN THE MAY 4th EDITION OF METRO @ http://www.metroactive.com/papers/metro/05.04.05/fly-0518.html - who cares who started the rumors, i will be the first to attest to their veracity)
> ALSO! - a message to the SVPD: some idiot did a burner then sped recklessly through the neighborhood at around 12:20 AM last night, and i think the car went through the lawrence/benton intersection...since this is my homeland, you all better call homeland security and check the camera images to see who it was...(there is also a camera @ the el camino real/lawrence expwy intersection)...
> 15 may 2005 - while cleaning up litter on friday, i noticed the scusd field cleanup crew removed most of the garbage cans at the gates of the peterson middle school field, and this could be a sign that the scusd has already made up their mind about the fate of the field...and while it is technically illegal to have important decisions like this made before any official public hearings have been held (because that would essentially make the public hearing a sham and/or just a formality - see: democracy), i still encourage you all to come on down and holler at the upcoming public hearing at laurelwood elementary school on june 15th, 2005!!!...
> 17 may 2005 - in a nutshell; here's how it all happened...first off - i created a video and made notes of the various misuses of the peterson field (driving and parking on the field, etc) and emailed this out to various governmental and media sources in an attempt to bring attention to the situtation...a few weeks later, i heard from a neighbor lady that there was a plan to build high-density housing in the field as an 'answer' to this problem...(some greedy developer and/or government employee looked at my video and drooled when they saw the land)...
...a few days before the first secret 'study session' regarding the issue at the sunnyvale city council chambers, i got wind of it and put out about 700+ flyers all over the neighborhood...people were turned away at the door and i was told that the developer was very angry that people found out about the plan...since then, the sunnyvale city council has been all but silent about the issue and the sunnyvale police have been regularly harassing me ever since...you see; before 9-11, it was the government's dirty little secret that the FBI (etc) targeted activists, but now with the USA patriot act, it is standard procedure...
> 19 may 2005 - a little bird told me: - 1) fry's electronics (owners of the saber cats) allegedly pays zero-zilch for using the peterson and patrick henry properties, while others using the same facility are charged up the yin-yang for their usage of the facilities - 2) sunnyvale city council member john howe is supposedly an idiotic dumbass who needs to be booted out of office - 3) NO NEW HOUSING DEVELOPMENT WILL GO INTO THE PETERSON FIELD! THE SCUSD AND SUNNYVALE CITY COUNCIL CAN TAKE THEIR DEVELOPMENT PLAN AND FORCEFULLY STICK IT WHERE THE SUN DON'T SHINE!...
CHECK OUT THIS TRAFFIC CALMING DEVICE @ ELIZABETH WAY AND NORMAN DRIVE
>>> this new traffic calming device was installed recently @ elizabeth way and norman drive...for many years there was a dip in the road at this intersection, and vehicles sped down norman drive travelling to and from the el camino real - but not anymore!...(the yellow barrier is actually a rubberized substance)...don't you think they need some planter boxes w/native wildflowers or something in the center of the circle?...i talked to the lady who made this traffic circle happen, and she said that it took her 13 years to get it installed, and it only happened after she moved out of the neighborhood...she even got new stop signs installed up the street at a blind intersection where i almost got hit by a car on a bicycle back in high school while late to work at the old food fair market at fremont and wolfe road - i missed broadsiding a speeding car by about two inches!...at this same blind intersection an old friend of mine got hit on a motorcycle and thrown about 50 feet - luckily he is pretty much ok and went on to earn a college degree...anyway, after receiving my initial flyer regarding the possible sale of the peterson field, the bad news made the traffic circle lady so distraught that she turned around and sold her house and moved out of state...but, when she got homesick and returned to california to re-purchase a home in the same area, the prices went up and she couldn't afford it anymore!...

>>> SAVE THE PETERSON FIELD! - NO BULLDOZING THREATENED AND/OR ENDANGERED SPECIES HABITAT!...CALL ROGER BARNES AT THE SCUSD @ 408-423-2085 or 408-423-2000!!! <<< The Peterson Middle School Nature Area - In Peterson Middle School, a 1.8 acre science Nature Area was constructed to facilitate the understanding and appreciation of biological and environmental concerns. Veteran teacher Bryan Osborne supervised an effort that has spanned 2 decades. Beginning with a flat field, the school constructed hills, dug ponds, cultivated plants, and designed eight biological communities to demonstrate a broad range of biological and ecological principles operating in the world: Grassland, pond, swamp, redwood forest, riparian community, deciduous forest, portions of a chaparral community, and a bog...The Nature Area provides fertile ground for exploration, discovery, and experimentation. For example, a 13 1/2 foot deep pond (an inland depression containing standing water) provides many environmental conditions to study in its major biological zones: littoral zone (shallow waters around the edge of the pond); limnetic zone (open water around the center of the pond); and the benthic zone (at the bottom of the pond). Students learn that light, temperature, and oxygen are three of the most important variables influencing the type of life in each zone in the pond community. Sunlight can reach the bottom of the littoral zone, supporting rooted plants and filamentous algaes that create an environment conducive to other life such as damselflies and dragonflies, backswimmers, and diving beetles. In contrast, sunlight rarely reaches the bottom of the pond where flatworms live...

>>> the peterson field provides habitat for the california ground squirrel / spermophilus beecheyi - a threatened species...some scientists theorize ground dwelling mammals survived the yucatan peninsula asteroid roughly 65 million years ago, and subsequent evolution led to the rise of upper mammals - but can spermophilus beecheyi survive homo sapiens, descendant of homo sapiens neanderthalensis?
